A Better Society started as a grassroots organization to help kick start and scale community projects and this mission continues. 

We are still: 

  • Volunteers (ages 7-70+)
  • Community supported – Not limited by geographic, socio-economic, religious, nor ethnic boundaries
  • Everything is provided free of charge (this includes consulting and training for schools and community groups; project management and support for social entrepreneurs; all bikes and helmets)

Donate a Bike

Donating to Project Life-Cycle

*** Donating Bikes to Project Life-Cycle: Due to limited warehouse space, we need to be selective of the bikes we take to make sure it’s something that can be fixed and given out quickly. Please email a photo of the bike to Life-Cycle@abettersociety.org, and we will let you know if we can take the bike.

We rely 100% on donated bikes from the community to supply the inventory of bikes we give away each year. We have been very fortunate to have enjoyed an incredibly steady flow of bikes mostly from generous individuals but also from several of the area bike shops, recycling organizations and law enforcement departments. We always have needs for more bikes and would be proud to get your bikes to someone who can put them back into full use! Whether for fun, recreation, exercise, or for transportation to work, school or running errands, we love to see our bikes put to good use and the smiles we see when we give them away are truly priceless!

Here is what we do need and accept:

  • Gently used bikes of any size (All styles, Mountain, Road, Fat Bikes, Cruisers, E-bikes, etc.) Preferably models from 2000 or newer
  • New helmets and locks with combination / keys
  • Parts and accessories from current model bikes (2000 or newer)

Please email a photo of the bike to Life-Cycle@abettersociety.org, and we will let you know if we can take the bike.

What we do not accept (due to low demand, or liability issues):

  • Older model or badly worn, rusted bikes (If you aren’t sure, stop by during our open volunteer hours. See the calendar in our EVENTS section for open hours.)
  • Scooters, big wheel type trikes or novelty riding toys
  • Motorized scooters, mini-bikes or go-carts
  • Used helmets
